The great majority of Fantasy leagues are smack in the middle of the playoffs and we’re just a few weeks from the NFL post-season as well. So, this is as good a time as any to look back over the season and to celebrate the Top 5 Fantasy quarterbacks. Three terrific performances to finish the season might change the order some but there is virtually no chance that anyone will drop out of the Top 5.
Coming in at fifth on our list is Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts. Luck has been banged up for much of the season, but he’s still playing at a high level when he’s on the field. He won’t surpass any of his personal bests this season but he will put up solid statistics despite working behind a makeshift offensive line. Luck is only 27 years old, so he has plenty of time to match his 2014 best performance season and set new highs. For the Andrew Luck fan on your Holiday List, Steiner Sports has several autographed photos of Luck, in addition to some inexpensive unsigned photos that are almost as stunning.
Until just a few weeks ago, Matt Ryan sat atop this list. He’s been putting on an aerial show all season but his numbers have tailed off some since Julio Jones injured his toe. If there is anyone who could move up on this list, it’s Ryan. He’s already passed for over 4,000 yards and is on pace to exceed his career record of 4,719 yards set in 2012. His nickname is “Matty Ice” because he’s so cool under pressure. If you’ve got an Atlanta Falcons or Matty Ice fan on your list, check out the signed mini-helmet or signed football at Steiner Sports. Either one is a terrific gift.
Drew Brees is a perennial visitor to the Top 5 list. With his 4,169 passing yards in 2016, Brees made it 11 consecutive seasons with 4,000 or more yards. He has four seasons among those with more than 5,000 yards and could come close to that mark this season too. Brees is best remembered for the 2009 season in which he led the Saints to Super Bowl XLIV and helped secure the win, beating the Indianapolis Colts and winning the Super Bowl MVP award. Steiner Sports has several signed Super Bowl footballs from Brees available as gifts for the Saints fan on your list.
When the conversation turns toward the greatest quarterback of all time, there is no doubt that Tom Brady belongs in the conversation. Brady continues to set personal best records even though he is approaching his 40th birthday. Just recently, he won his 201st game to pass Peyton Manning. Brady also accomplished the feat faster than anyone else on the list, and with a better overall winning percentage to boot.
If the Patriots win the Super Bowl this season, that will make it five Super Bowl wins for Brady, a feat that nobody else in the history of the NFL has accomplished. It’s no surprise that Steiner Sports has two dozen different items available commemorating Brady. There are signed jerseys, footballs, helmets and more. There’s also an issue of Sports Illustrated with Brady on the cover available. No matter what, the Patriots fan on your list will be thrilled with something commemorating Brady from Steiner Sports.
The way things were going in the early part of the season, it looked as though Aaron Rodgers was in jeopardy of missing the Top 5 quarterbacks list. The offensive line was not doing a good job of protecting Rodgers and his passes lacked crispness. The Green Bay receivers weren’t looking good either. There was a disproportionate number of dropped passes. Jordy Nelson, arguably the Packers’ best receiver, wasn’t showing the same burst from the line of scrimmage either.
Over the past four weeks or so, Rodgers has come on strong. However, the main reason he’s passing so much and for so many yards is that the Packers have no running game to speak of. They rely on Rodgers’ arm to provide nearly all of the offense because their top running back, Ty Montgomery, is actually a wide receiver. If there’s a “cheesehead” Packers fan on your list, Steiner Sports has a couple of nice memorabilia items featuring Aaron Rodgers. There is one item that is particularly inexpensive – a Sports Illustrated issue with Rodgers on the cover. Any fan of Rodgers or the Packers would love to see this emerge from a wrapped present. Don’t miss the Steiner Sports Holiday Gift Center, and if you can’t decide what to give, there are gift cards available in all denominations, so you can let the sports fan on your list make the decision.
