The Vikings Cut Blair Walsh And The Jokes Are All So Good
When Twitter reacts to the news, it isn't always great. In fact it rarely is. Every once in a while though, Twitter nails it; and we are all winners when that happens.
The Minnesota Vikings announced on Tuesday that they released kicker Blair Walsh, and they were not nice about it. The unceremonious booting of Walsh - known best for the 27-yard shanked field goal that lost the Vikings a playoff game last season - included a photo that appears to be a troll job on the poor schlep.
In case you don't know, teams don't generally include a photo of the player they just cut when they announce the news to the world. This is Walsh's fifth season in the NFL and he had been with Minnesota his entire career, so you could say that handling his release from the team in this way is a little cold.
Then again, Walsh made millions during his time with the Vikings, which is a lot of cash to dry his tears with; particularly for a kicker. So he doesn't have much to feel bad about. He will inevitably end up back on another NFL roster and the earth will continue to spin.
That doesn't mean we can't enjoy the jokes right now, though. Because they are so very good. Sometimes the most obvious joke is the funniest, and that applies here. We wish Walsh all the best in his future endeavors, but today we laugh. We laugh so hard.
