TMZ’s Video of Terrell Owen’s Racist Taunter Proves Athletes Can’t Win Sometimes
Whether or not Terrell Owens threw a cup of hot coffee at this guy, as he claims in a filed police report, or not – it’s obvious that in this video, the racist taunts by this man saw a possible fight with T.O. as an instant payday. A video obtained by TMZ Sports showed the alleged “victim” taunting and walking after Owens after the two had an altercation inside a Starbucks in Brentwood, California.
After spouting the n-word a few times, “Arman” went on to call him a “f**king knuckle-running, spear-chucking, monkey-ass looking motherf***er,” while walking down the street after the former NFL All-Pro.
(This video came out Wednesday, the same night as Owens found out he was one of 108 nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.)
Owens said the man threw a cup at him, which spurred him to throw a cup back at him.
TMZ initially spoke with Arman, who first denied using the n-word, but after learning there was video of it, he said, he never put the “r” in. “I use that word and it’s very much accepted in the black community,” he told TMZ Sports.
After TMZ also mentioned all of the other racial epithets he used, the man said he was being “purposefully racist.”
"I just wanted to make him mad and sad. I'm Middle Eastern and Muslim and not KKK," he said.
“There’s freedom of speech,” he said, “but there’s not freedom of attack. He kicked me in the Starbucks.”
There are several levels of dirtbaggery this guy crosses, but this was my favorite announcement of his stupidity. "I don't want my name to be ruined with all my African-American friends because that's as racist as it gets."
Arman said, "I come from a very politically active family and community who has fought for the rights of any and every group that has ever been racially discriminated against."
I don’t doubt Owens might have been in the wrong at the very beginning of the altercation, although, I still don’t understand how it escalated to this – or what the initial issue was even about. But it’s obvious this guy ramped it up quickly, and Owens smartly got out of there, even with video showing he was being verbally attacked. He knew there was nothing he could do right then that would fix things. So he left.
Unfortunately, there are way too many dirtbags out there – and way too many athletes that aren’t wise enough yet to know they have to walk away before it escalates.
Arman, meanwhile, is getting his 15 minutes of fame and likely being praised for it, by the rest of his likely dirtbag friends.
