Twitter’s Mixed Reaction To Odell Beckham Crying
It's not everyday that a professional athlete cries after a regular season game. The tears are usually reserved for special occasions, like playoff wins or celebrating a dropped lawsuit. But New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. hadn't really had a good opportunity to show emotion since coming into the NFL last season. In his 17th professional football game, Beckham caught 7 passes for 121 and a touchdown -- bringing his career totals to a staggering 1733 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns -- helping the Giants to their first winning record in a full calendar year.
Maybe that's why he was crying after the game. Maybe? Maybe he just had something in his eye?
The New York Post's explanation:
“It seems like we’re always counted out, things don’t always go our way,’’ Beckham said when asked why he had gotten so emotional. “In the past we’ve made these mistakes and they say history is doomed to repeat itself. It was great to be able to see this team and the fans just light the stadium up, they lit the stadium up and gave us the energy we needed to be able to go down there and score.”
The fact that the Giants avoided another late-game collapse -- thanks in large part to a pass interference call Beckham drew after leaving the game with a hamstring injury -- was probably enough to turn the NFL's third-best receiver into Jimmy Kimmel on his wedding day, but it definitely could've been something other than "I'm just glad we won the game." Something like "I'm sad I didn't catch the game-winning touchdown" or "I missed the Walking Dead season premiere."
The was no consensus on Twitter. No one seemed sure what to think...
