VINE: Turns Out The British Care About Fireman Ed About As Much As We Do
Fireman Ed, the inexplicably well-known Jets super fan, retired from his duties as glorified old-man cheerleader to lick his wounds after the butt fumble in 2012. Of course, retiring from being a super fan sort of negates the idea that you were ever a super fan to begin with, but I digress.
It seemed like the person most upset by his retirement from his Sunday face-painting and screaming was Ed himself. Jets fans aren't the most excitable group of people to begin with. They can sometimes be a lot of bluster but that's about it. So there wasn't exactly a movement to get Fireman Ed back in the stands to lead the J-E-T-S chants, but lo and behold he returned for the start of the 2015 season; just in time to spend way too much money flying to London to try to get British people to cheer on the Jets in their overseas game against the Miami Dolphins.
That's right...British people. Excited. For the Jets. You can imagine how that went down.
Yeah that fell a little flat there, Eddie.
If people in New York didn't miss you when you were gone, then you're hard pressed to stir up a fervor in England over an American football game.
