Watching (And Listening To) Chargers DB Eric Weddle Will Make You Love Football Again
It's hard to be a fan of the NFL right now. Between domestic abuse scandals, and child abuse scandals, and homophobia scandals, and the specter of serious brain damage looming over everything, we don't blame you if you've shut off your TVs on Sunday in favor of something wholesome, or perhaps pornographic (but nothing too violent). Football is heavy with grief and regret, and that makes watching it no fun.
So if you're looking to be reinvigorated, reminded of why you fell in love with football in the first place, you must watch this week's "MIC'D UP" clip with San Diego's Eric Weddle. Weddle led the team with 10 tackles (9 solo and 1 for a loss) as the Chargers beat the Bills, but it was the way he played the game -- with incredible enthusiasm and passion -- that has us so amazed. It's like he's actually enjoying himself out there or something.
And because we can't embed the NFL clip into this post (because God forbid the NFL doesn't get every ad-cent possible, damn, the NFL is so annoying... whoops, there we go again, sorry), we'll share Weddle's monster hit on Marquise Goodwin instead. You'll have to watch the mic'd up video to see how Weddle reacted afterwards -- dude is awesome:
Damn. That boy can ball. But you know what else he can do? Say awesome, self-aware shit. He knows that you're probably down on the league at the moment:
As a husband, father and player I'm embarrassed to be associated with the NFL right now!

But if he can keep the enthusiasm for game, so we can. I mean, he's making over $10 million this year to play said game, but you get my point.
