WEEK 13 PRE-GAME INJURY UPDATES
Greg Olsen TE, Panthers: re-aggravation of foot injury
In his first game back from IR, Greg Olsen didn’t even make it to the second half. He experienced soreness in his surgically-repaired foot, and it wasn’t worth the risk of running him back out there. He isn’t dealing with a new injury, but Inside Injuries has been saying he needs two more weeks before he is ready to play. Despite practicing on Friday, he will not play today. Keep him out of your lineups for Week 13.
Devonta Freeman RB, Falcons: concussion
Freeman missed the last two games with a concussion. He cleared concussion protocol early in the week and will suit up today. The worry here is that he has had three concussions since 2015, and two in the last three months. He will remain a High Injury Risk for the remainder of the season.
LeSean McCoy RB, Bills: knee injury
Shady was a late addition to the injury report Thursday but was listed as a full participant. Despite missing practice Friday, the Bills aren’t expressing much concern over his status for Week 13. He is likely to play, but double check before finalizing your lineups. Inside Injuries has his Health Performance Factor at Poor, so his knee issue is going to affect him today. McCoy also has a history of knee injuries (and many other injuries as well), making this slightly more concerning.
Lamar Miller RB, Texans: knee injury
Lamar Miller disappeared in the second half on Sunday night, likely due to the knee injury that he has been battling all week. Miller missed practice on Wednesday but got in a limited session Thursday. He is going to play, but his knee is going to limit his performance. Miller has been, at best, an Elevated Injury Risk all year, and now he is High Risk. With a Below Average Health Performance Factor, he is nothing more than a risky flex option this week.
Matthew Stafford QB, Lions: ankle sprain
Despite a painful looking ankle injury on Thanksgiving, Matthew Stafford was able to get in a full week of practice. He’s as tough as they come and has played through injuries many times over the last few years. He previously sprained the same ankle earlier this season, and his performance suffered. This one doesn’t seem quite as bad, but he has a daunting matchup with the Ravens. If you have another decent QB option, keep Stafford on your bench for Week 13.
Aaron Jones RB, Packers: MCL sprain
It’s been three weeks since Aaron Jones suffered a scary looking MCL sprain against the Bears. He was limited at practice throughout the week and will be a game-time decision today. Even if he is active, he is best left on the bench. Our initial Optimal Recovery Time for his injury was 4-6 weeks, so he isn’t healthy enough to put up solid numbers today. Jones remains an Elevated Injury Risk.
Jameis Winston QB, Buccaneers: shoulder sprain
Jameis Winston will return today after a three-game absence. He has only been throwing for few days and needs one more week before we are confident he is ready to go. His risk of injury is Low, but his Health Performance Factor remains Below Average. Look elsewhere for a QB this week. He’ll be ready in Week 14.
Cam Newton QB, Panthers: thumb sprain
Last week, we warned that Cam Newton was going to have accuracy issues, and ball security was also a concern due to his thumb sprain. His completion percentage was under 40 percent and he fumbled once. He should do slightly better in Week 13, but the same concerns remain.
