Wendy Nix Gives Definitive Sermon On The Greg Hardy Situation
Sunday afternoon, ESPN NFL reporter Wendy Nix was given a chance to shed some perspective on Deadspin's release of photos showing the physical damage Greg Hardy did to his former girlfriend before being arrested, not charged, then suspended and signed by the Dallas Cowboys. This is pretty much the best
"boom, those pictures are awful, indefensible; but what has changed? we saw pictures. Did you need to see a picture of a dead body to know what happened when aaron hernandez fired a bullet? i didn't. but greg hardy, saying he shouldn't play in the national football league, it sounds like all the right notes, but it's a little bit simplistic, and greg hardy -- i wouldn't expect him to turn down the opportunity. and what about the man writing the checks, who's encouraged and enabled? jerry jones calls hardy a leader and on friday said his organization did not condone domestic violence. guess what, jerry? you sure do. but here's the thing, boom. i'm an unapologetic capitalist. i believe in big business, and i'm sure as hell in favor of profit. but when economic principles can't be applied, the surest answer is let dollars vote. that means you, sponsors, and us, as consumers of this great game. you better believe i think it's a great game. but sometimes, just for the hell of it, you have to take a stand. but if this is unacceptable to you, do something. jerry jones has made his choice, let's make ours. if the bottom line, if the language that jerry jones speaks, let that message be loud and clear."
