So, okay, let's be honest: This sucks for reasons far, far beyond fantasy football. But the reality is, just as the Vikings will have to make do without their star running back, fantasy owners will need to adjust as well. Who in the Minnesota backfield can replace him?
The short answer: No one. You should really look elsewhere, and the Vikings' ground game is probably fucked this weekend. That being said, the depth chart has Matt Asiata up first: He's the 27-year-old back out of Utah who got his first real NFL work last season filling in for Peterson and Toby Gerhart. He had three touchdowns in that game against the Eagles, which means nothing, but he should be the first one you grab.
Behind him is Jerick McKinnon, a 5'9 rookie running back out of Georgia Southern. He's worth little more than a bench stash, even though most people agree he's the more talented runner of the two. He's just too raw and inexperienced at this point to be guaranteed carries -- but if Asiata is already gone in your league, he's worth snagging.
Don't believe me? Ask an expert:
If you have the room and need an RB, grab Matt Asiata NOW... then wait for details to trickle out. Best way to stay ahead of curve.
