You’ll Never Believe The Falcons’ Chances Of Winning The NFC Entering The Season
This is irony at it's finest!
Projections and stats are everything in sports. Fans rely on the numbers to tell them the likely outcome of a game and which team is better than the other. Usually the numbers are right.
That is, until they're wrong.
Entering the 2016 season, projections didn't even have the Falcons on the radar to win the NFC, much less clinch a Super Bowl berth.
That worked out well...
Seriously 1.2 percent! Whatever statistician came up with that number should be fired immediately!
Everyone and their mother knows how good the Atlanta Falcons have been on both sides of the ball this season. Matt Ryan is spreading the ball to a multitude of weapons on offense, racking up 4944 passing yards and 38 touchdowns during the regular season.
Meanwhile, the Falcons defense is coming into their own and playing at a more elite level every week. All cylinders are firing as Atlanta heads into its Super Bowl LI matchup against the daunting New England Patriots.
In fairness, the Falcons immense success this season would have been very hard to predict. But in that same breadth, it's called a "projection" for a reason.
Even the closely calculated numbers are off sometimes, and the Falcons will look to beat the odds once more against the 3-point favored Patriots on Super Bowl Sunday.
