Patrick Kane Reportedly Under Investigation For Rape
Patrick Kane, a native of South Buffalo and star player for the Chicago Blackhawks, is the target of a rape investigation by Hamburg police according to law enforcement sources for The Buffalo News. The incident under investigation – in which a local woman has accused Kane of sexual assault - occurred over the last weekend.
“The law enforcement sources said that the woman went to a hospital and that tests using a rape kit were performed,” said the report from The Buffalo News.
As of right now, Kane has not been charged with any crime and the report states,
“Hamburg Police Chief Gregory G. Wickett and the Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said they could neither confirm nor deny the existence of the investigation.”
This is not the first criminal incident that Kane has had his name attached to in Buffalo. In 2009 Kane and his cousin plead to disorderly conduct in the wake of accusations that they assaulted a taxi driver in August of that year.
Though this controversy reportedly sparked friction between Kane and the Blackhawks organization, he remained with the team and they won the Stanley Cup that 2009-2010 season; with Kane scoring the winning goal. In the summer of 2012 Kane found himself again in hot water when pictures surfaced of him partying in Madison, Wisconsin and unflattering rumors of depraved behavior began swirling.
The Blackhawks have since won two more Stanley Cup championships; in 2012-13 when Kane was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy, and again in the most recent 2014-15 season.
According to The Buffalo News report it may take time before the media will be able confirm or deny that a complaint was filed, as the town has 20 days to accept or reject the request.
