Say Hello To One Of The Creepier Goalie Masks You’ll Ever See
Columbus Blue Jackets netminder Steve Mason recently commissioned a new goalie mask from airbrush artist David Gunnarsson. And it's really creepy!
The 2009 NHL Rookie of the Year tweeted pictures of the two sides on Tuesday. The first is predictable enough, featuring a very prominent Ohio state flag. There it is on the left. Normal, right?
But in true Dr. Jekyll-Mr. Hyde fashion, the second side ... not so conventional.
As Puck Daddy's Greg Wyshynski points out, the skull on the right side is an homage to the movie poster for "Evil Dead 2." Then there's what we imagine to be the zombie version of Civil War general Robert E. Lee, if Lee were a member of the living dead. The Grim Reaper also makes an appearance — as does a cactus, a dude on horseback, and some ominous-looking birds. See below:
Well, that's one way to intimidate opponents. And by "intimidate," we mean, "scare the bejesus out of."
