Woe, Canada; Hockey’s Best Team Loses 10-0
It's bad enough when you accumulate more goals against in a single game than you tally wins on the year.
It gets even worse when you enter said game leading the National Hockey League in wins.
The Montreal Canadiens went into their road game with the Columbus Blue Jackets with a 9-0-1 mark, the lone team in the NHL without a regulation loss. Perhaps furious over the loss by their fellow Ohioans in the World Series, the Blue Jackets not only put up a touchdown...but added a field goal for good measure, giving us the rare double digit score in a hockey, the Jackets being the victors in the 10-0 debacle...
In Montreal's defense, their world class goaltender, Carey Price, currently boasting an NHL-high .964 save percentage and an NHL-low 1.17 GAA, did not play...not even when things got super ugly. In his place was poor, poor Al Montoya, who faced 40 shots, letting in a quarter of them. He also saw his GAA bloat to 3.15.
If anything, at least we got to hear Columbus's AWESOME goal celebration, which very well could be the best in hockey (sorry, Chelsea Dagger). Note the accompanying AC/DC tune...
Safe to say, more gunpowder was needed for the victory, which (obviously) set a Blue Jackets franchise record.
Montreal gets a chance to redeem themselves tonight, as they'll take on the Philadelphia Flyers at home.
