After Quarterfinals Victory, Budweiser Gave Everyone In Wales A Free Beer
For the summer of 2016, Budweiser is doing a marketing campaign in the US, where they are changing their name to simply "America" in honor of celebrating the 240th anniversary of the country. It looks as cool as it sounds.
Would it make us more likely to buy a Budweiser? Maybe for the Instagram picture, but either you like that particular beer or you don't. The campaign is cool, but not nearly as special as the Budweiser campaign in Wales. In that one, Budweiser is literally just giving away beer.
According to Wales Online, Budweiser is giving away one beer to any person in Wales over 18 years old, in celebration of Wales upsetting Belgium in the quarterfinal of the Euro 2016. One of Budweiser's largest brewery is located in Magor, in southeast Wales. Budweiser has always branded themselves as a beer for a group of buddies hanging around watching a game. Now, they are celebrating their victory together.
All a resident of Wales needed to do to claim their beer was to pick up a voucher and show proof of age. And that's it. Free beer for you.
So yeah, we are all for the "America" thing, but would REALLY prefer the free beer. Sure, we understand that Wales has only three million people in the country compared to the 323 million people that live in the United States. But what if we just wanted to grab a bud? We are up for whatever Budweiser!
All Wales did was advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament. They didn't win the whole damn thing. They didn't even make it to the finals! Our soccer team even advanced to the semi-finals of the Copa America. So what will it take for Budweiser to give Americans free beer? Johnny Manziel getting sober? The Cubs winnings a World Series? Tell us!
