FIFA Goal Of The Year Candidates Revealed
FIFA released the short list of candidates for each of their vaunted individual soccer awards, with one notable omission from the Puskas Award field: Carli Lloyd. Apparently whatever tragically flawed, corrupt process the world's international soccer governing body uses to select finalists for "Goal of the Year" considers Alessandro Florenzi's 40-yard floater better than Lloyd's midfield strike from the Women's World Cup Final. Eh, we're not so sure about that, but whatever -- Messi is going to win anyways because he ate five players on Atletico Madrid in his score.
It's still wack that they left her off the short list, so given FIFA's track record of being an abhorrent organization, you're well within your rights to blame them for screwing this one up.
