Fox Soccer Uses Footage Of Trump Talking About Mexicans To Hype USMNT Match
Last month, Azteca TV used footage of Donald Trump to hype up their broadcast of the US-Mexico CONCACAF Cup playoff match this coming Saturday, the premise being that more people would tune in because Trump was saying horribly offensive things about the Mexican people. His comments made the U.S. easier to hate because they were mean and inaccurate and offensive on just about every level imaginable. That's how you market an international sporting event. You make it look like the good guys vs. the bad guys.
Fox Sports, on the other hand, doesn't seem to understand how the whole pregame hype process works, because they too have incorporated footage of Trump in their promo for the match -- except it's aimed at getting Americans to tune in. American soccer fans. You know, the people in America who are far more likely to be first/second generation immigrants. Nice one. Way to make us feel like the bad guys. Just because you've edited out the stuff that makes Trump (and Americans, by extension) look like racist douchebags doesn't mean people have forgotten the shit he's said.
"When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists and some, I assume, are good people."
