Olbermann Rips U.S. Soccer Over Hope Solo Domestic Violence Issue: 'A National Disgrace'
So hey ladies ... are you enjoying your domestic violence double standard? No, don't mind me ... go back to watching your women's soccer. Your hero, Hope Solo is playing.
Where's TMZ when you need them? Maybe you missed it, but sailing in under the radar this week is the case involving the starting U.S. National Women's Soccer Team goalie and hero to girls everywhere -- who is charged with two misdemeanor counts of domestic assault in Washington State. Solo allegedly beat up her sister-in-law and 17-year-old nephew at a family gathering in June, in a fracas so wild that police said that Solo was uncontrollable. Yes, it was a proud day to be an American.
So that case has yet to go to court, and in the meantime Solo is playing -- and in fact was just made honorary team captain. This has rubbed some people the wrong way, including a very pissed off Keith Olbermann on Monday night (see below).
The U.S. Soccer Federation addressed the issue on Monday, with president Sunil Gulati saying in a statement:
“U.S. Soccer takes the issue of domestic violence very seriously. From the beginning, we considered the information available and have taken a deliberate and thoughtful approach regarding Hope Solo’s status with the national team. Based on that information, U.S. Soccer stands by our decision to allow her to participate with the team as the legal process unfolds. If new information becomes available we will carefully consider it.”

So is it just me, or do I hear a whole lot of nothing from women on this? If Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice need to be banished by the NFL before their time in court, why is Solo playing for the U.S. and signing autographs? Please advise. And kindly keep your hands to yourselves.
