Piers Morgan’s #PieGate Tweets Are Proof That He’s Trolling Us All
Wayne Shaw is a 45-year-old, 325-pound goalkeeper for National League soccer club Sutton United, and he recently stirred up controversy after he ate a pie during the game; consequently swaying the outcome of a prop bet.
After he revealed on "Good Morning Britain" on Sunday morning that he'd eaten the pie with previous knowledge of the bet, the man otherwise known as the "roly poly goalie" was forced by the team to resign. And the show's host, Piers Morgan, was outraged by the entire situation.
Or was he? His ensuing rant on Twitter tells a conflicting story.
It starts out innocently enough. Just the usual overwrought blustering and outraged finger-pointing that has made Morgan infamous.
He continued on, reverting to the anti-PC rhetoric for which he is known and which he applies indiscriminately to anything that he happens to disagree with.
Here's where things start to get fun. As Morgan gets further into this unnecessarily long rant, it becomes readily apparent that he's run out of ways to call people idiots and/or politically-correct minions. But he obviously still wants to keep it going, so he resorts to what is clearly just straight up trolling.
Oh god, this is glorious.
THIS PHOTO. Guys, he's not serious. Piers Morgan may be an incorrigible egomaniac, but he's not an idiot. That's how I know that this final tweet is just pure, unadulterated troll-ery.
It was a prop bet. Of course it wouldn't have affected the outcome of the game. No one's arguing that. And what do we call someone who argues against a point that no one is making?
Bravo, Mr. Morgan. You've done it again.
