The Seattle Sounders And Portland Timbers Have A Great MLS Rivalry … For Me To Poop On
Ever since the Portland Timbers joined the MLS in 2011, there has been no more delicious rivalry than that between them and the Seattle Sounders. And it predates the MLS actually, going back to the North American Soccer League beginning in the 1970s. The Pacific Northwest really knows how to do this right, but as of Tuesday, we're not sure that "delicious" is a term we'll use to describe it anymore.
Now it's devolved to poop jokes. On Tuesday Seattle signed midfielder Andreas Ivanschitz from Levante, and that apparently was too much for the Timbers' social media department to resist. The Timbers made a poop joke, and then the Sounders responded by breaking out the poop emojis.
The Sounders deleted their tweet almost immediately, but this being the rivalry it is, several fans had already screen-captured it.
Sounders just Draked the Timbers.
