It's the type of nightmare that's universal. No matter your language, creed, sexual orientation or team you root for, the fear of your method of watching your favorite team suddenly going kaput has haunted fans throughout the wild world of sports.
For one, admittedly obnoxious, fan of the Turkish soccer team, that dream became a nightmare several times during his country's Euro 2016 match against Croatia. The match was held on Sunday, though video of this woebegone fan is surfacing now.
The fan, identified as Izzet Salti, angrily watches his beloved Turks take on the Croatians, part of group play of the 2016 edition of the tournament. His wife, Seda, hides in the shadows throughout the game, using an app on her phone to control the TV. Whenever the Turks get something going, i.e a corner kick, Seda turns off the TV, much to Salti increasing anger, to the point where both the television pays the ultimate price, and is eventually destroyed. Also involved in the carnage is an innocent MacBook, which Salti goes full Hulk on, snapping the poor Apple product in half.
Before you go feeling sorry for Salti, it should be noted that earlier in the vid, he forbids Seda to watch the game with him, prompting her cruel and unusual punishment. At no point does this justify the destruction of a very nice television (not to mention a poor faultless MacBook...on which Salti could've just easily streamed the game if he cared so much about it), however, with the set clearly in ruins by the end of the video.
If we're talking about Turkish soccer fans, however, Salti's reaction might actually be considered pretty tame. Last November, prior to a friendly against Greece, Turkish fans ruined a moment of silence for the victims of the Paris terror attacks by yelling "Allahu Ackbar", and fans of Eskişehirspor, of the premiere Turkish soccer league Turkish Super Lig, showed their anger over being relegated by straight up attempting to burn their stadium down.
It's same to Salti was feeling well...salty after the matches. Turkey fell 1-0 to Croatia and currently stand at 0-2 in group play, putting them on the brink of elimination. Turkey's next, and possibly final, match of the tournament will come Tuesday when they face the Czech Republic. So at least Salti has time to get to Best Buy!
