You may not love soccer, but it’s hard to argue that they don’t have the best in-game tricks of any sport. In Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, Brazilian superstar Douglas Costa evaded his defender with an impossibly perfect rainbow.
Here’s the highlight video, courtesy of the ArenaVision.in broadcast.
Tell me that’s not awesome. Bravo Douglas! I’ll be watching that on repeat.
Even though it may boil down to just be a fancy way to advance the ball, the rainbow is still an impressive athletic trick. Many a soccer player has tried and failed to pull that off while just standing around on the pitch and goofing off. A bold few have tried it in an actual game, and even fewer have succeeded. Just to illustrate my point, and give you a cheap laugh on Saturday, here are some of the best of kids on YouTube trying and hilariously failing to execute the rainbow.
