Live Updates From The USWNT Women’s World Cup Victory Parade Through New York City

When the United States wins an athletic competition, it's rarely a surprise. Outside of Lake Placid and Berlin in 1936, the U.S. either dominates in predictable fashion or barely bothers to show up. What can we say -- the richest country on Earth with over 315 million people isn't exactly the underdog we may believe it to be. Oops.
The USWNT typifies our all-or-nothing sporting mentality. We barely show up for the men's World Cup (no matter how improbably that 2014 "run" felt) yet we obliterate the competition in the women's tournament. The United States Women's National Team allowed just three goals in the entire tournament. Three -- and one was an own goal -- so more like two. These girls are terminators programmed to play soccer. They are without equal. And on the heels of the 2011 Women's World Cup -- when they lost in penalty kicks -- everyone gets to pretend like they weren't destined to wipe the floor with Japan this time around. Yay! Let's have a parade!
WHEN: 11:00 a.m. EST
WHERE: New York, New York (Canyon of Heroes)
WHY: Because they won the 2015 Women's World Cup you moron.
