On Monday, Serena Williams beat Maria Sharapova in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, securing her 18th consecutive win over the Russian superstar. That's right, it has now been almost 11.5 years since Sharapova won a match against Serena; dating back to the 2004 WTA Tour Championships which were held from Nov. 10-15.
That's a really long time. Twelve years might as well be a century when you are talking about athlete years.
