Vince McMahon Donates More To Trump Foundation Than Donald Trump
So much has been made of Donald Trump's personal and business ventures during this campaign. The fact that he has not accepted any donations from PACs or Super PACs is well documented, as financing his entire campaign has been a major selling point for Trump. We've also heard a ton about Trump University, Trump National Golf Course, and of course the Trump Foundation.
The Donald J. Trump Foundation has been utilized by Trump to show just how much he gives back to the community, saying repeatedly throughout the campaign that he has donated millions and millions of dollars to his charity and others. Over the weekend, Trump released 93 pages worth of documents showing just how much money he allocated to charity. According to the Washington Post, almost all of the charitable donations made by Trump to the Trump Foundation, however, was not actually cash. He donated mostly free rounds of golf, and land conservation agreements. So basically all Trump did was just give out some coupons to his hotels and golf courses; no actual cash.
Of course the Trump Foundation has made millions of dollars, but in large part it wasn't thanks to Donald Trump. The biggest donors? Vincent and Linda McMahon.
The owners of World Wrestling Entertainment, and long time friends with Trump, have donated $5 million over the last ten years, by far more than anybody else. In fact the $5 million that the McMahons donated to the Trump foundation, came after Trump's appearance at WrestleMania 23 in 2007. At that WrestleMania, a Trump representative (Bobby Lashley) fought a Vince McMahon representative (Umaga) in the the "Battle of the Billonaires", with the loser having his head shaved. While Umaga lost, and it was McMahon who had to get his head shaved bald, the night didn't end well for Trump.
Well I guess we can't say that it didn't end well. On top of the $5 million that the McMahons would donate to the Donald J. Trump Foundation, they also paid Trump personally an unspecified handsome amount. Hey, but Donald J. Trump doesn't take donations from anyone! Evidently, he also doesn't give donations either.
