4th Of July Hangover Cure: The Best Of The Hilarious #1776Trump Tweets
Tanya Ray Fox 04:10 pm, July 05th, 2016
Independence Day is over, people. The glorious 4th of July long weekend has officially been relegated to red, white and blue-hued memories on Instagram, and the hangover from America's biggest party is real.
Much like the day after the Super Bowl, the days that immediately follow the 4th of July can be difficult. All of the fun holidays are now over until we hit Thanksgiving, because let's face it, Labor Day is no Memorial Day. Kicking off the summer is far superior to closing it out. And Halloween is just an excuse for people to eat candy so they have a splurge to look forward to between the end of BBQ season and the day that grocery stores start selling eggnog again.
Fortunately for all of us, the internet is never more vibrant or creative than it is during an election year; and the 2016 presidential race has been a real doozey. Between Donald Trump's bullshit rantings about the state of America, Hillary Clinton's endless scandals threatening America's security and Kevin Durant breaking the NBA and American sports fans hearts, post-4th of July Twitter has been a real hot mess.
The bright light amidst the chaos, though, has been the trending hashtag #1776Trump. Spurred on by the good people over at HuffPost Comedy, the hashtag has people re-imagining Trump as a colonial era presidential nominee.
On a day in which there is an entire timeline of people comparing Durant's decision to play for Golden State to the disastrous state of our country's political landscape, it's a great to put things back into perspective and have a little fun while were at it. So sit back, grab a bottle of water and maybe a little hair of the dog, and enjoy these tweets. And remind yourself to be grateful that although he may be the next leader of the free world, at least Trump wasn't a Founding Father.
