People Are Torching Their New Balance Shoes Because Company Supports Donald Trump
I'm running out of shoes, America. I long ago dumped Nike because I believe that Chinese 11-year-olds should be working on their Kobe Bryant crossover moves rather than assembling his sneakers. Also, Puma and Adidas are based in Germany and the shoes are made in China, Turkey, El Salvador, Indonesia and Brazil (with only 4 percent in the U.S.).
So my shoe closet contains Starter and New Balance: because on the court I want to give off that Ed Helms vibe.
But now New Balance is also out. The company, whose marketing strategy consists 95 percent bragging that their headquarters are in Boston and that their shoes are made in the U.S., has just publicly announced that it supports Donald Trump. It's because of Trump's opposition to the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership), which is a trade agreement among Pacific Rim countries that lowers tariff trade barriers.
New Balance: "The Obama admin turned a deaf ear to us & frankly w/ Pres-Elect Trump we feel things are going to move in the right direction"

Many are not amused, and have been gathering their New Balance stuff and setting it aflame.

.@NewBalance Hey, you guys just lost comedy writers, the people who were buying 94% of your shoes.

It's become a shoe fire that can be seen from space. Who would have thought that the first significant Trump product protest would be New Balance sneakers? Has Trump even worn sneakers for one day in his life? Like Nixon, he wears dress shoes and navy socks to the beach.
