As I have said, building around starting pitching has been the key to winning so far this week, but that isn’t easy if you are playing in a contest that includes most of the Friday early games. One guy I am definitely going with, though, is Jake Arrieta of the Orioles, who is priced at $7,700 on DraftKings. Current Twins hitters on the roster who have faced him before are hitting a combined .136 against Arrieta. The Orioles are playing well early and Arrieta is a strong start who can definitely hold down a less-than-imposing Minnesota lineup.
If you are looking for bargains in the earlier games on DraftKings, you have to mostly look past the batter/pitcher matchups and simply consider who is going to play and has been performing well early. Here are some of my top lower-priced for the afternoon games. Of course, check our lineups feed to confirm all will be starting.
Ben Revere ($3,200 on DraftKings) – Stole his second base on Thursday, looking good at the top of the Philadelphia lineup.
Dominic Brown (3,600) – Strong spring seems to be carrying over early in the schedule.
J.J. Hardy (3,500) – Homered on Thursday and should be more dependable overall this year, take a hot the good times carry over at least another day.
Trevor Plouffe (3,300) – He has never faced Arrieta before, but he did homer on Thursday.
Brennan Boesch (3,600) – Faces his former team in Detroit, will be pumped up to perform well, and is 7-for-12 lifetime against Doug Fister with two doubles and three RBI.
Brett Gardner (3,800) – Thursday homer was something of a surprise, but also a signal he is determined to play well early after lost 2013 season. He has been aggressive and confident so far.
