CHISENHALL LEADS THE BARGAIN LIST
As you have already learned if you are new to Daily Fantasy Baseball, pitching is the key to any success you may have. It’s all about picking the best pitchers on a site like DraftKings, and hoping your hitters can outperform most of your opponents who may often have the same guys. The prize winners on Tuesday and Wednesday mostly had Yu Darvish and Matt Harvey, respectively, in their lineups.
Today’s standout pitcher to build around is pretty obvious. Jordan Zimmermann is $8,800 on DraftKings and faces a Marlins lineup that has failed to score in its first two games against Washington. Dillon Gee (8,400) opposes the Padres, who look very limp without Chase Headley. Current Padres hitters on their roster, minus Headley, are 8-for-33 against Gee, who can slide into your lineup nicely next to Zimmermann.
Here are some of my featured bargain plays for Thursday, so you can ensure that you have Zimmermann and Gee on your roster, while also having some prominent hitters around them. You will need some low-priced guys to fill your roster out, here are some that could at least give you some respectable production. Remember to check our lineups page for confirmation that these players will start before you officially lock them in.
Lonnie Chisenhall ($3,400 on DraftKings) – Maybe the best bargain play of the day. He has two hits in five at-bats against Mark Buehrle, and both of them are home runs.
Jackie Bradley Jr. (2,000) – Maybe my favorite discount overall in terms of pure pricing. He is scoring runs, and that is translating into Fantasy points. I’ll definitely take that for the bottom rung price tag.
Jonny Gomes (3,700) – He is 8-for-22 lifetime against Andy Pettitte, with seven RBIs. He has also struck out nine times against Pettitte, so he is a risk, too.
John Buck ($3,000) – He is off to a hot start with his new team, with four hits in his first eight at-bats
Colin Cowgill (3,400) – Can give you some hits and may even steal a base. Mets may sweep Padres.
Ruben Tejada (2,600) – He will make contact and get on base. He won’t hurt you if you use him.
Ben Revere (3,200) – He will get on base as the Phillies try to avoid a sweep in Atlanta.
Placido Polanco (3,200) – He is 4-for-11 against Zimmerman, and if any veteran could try to boost Miami out of their funk, it will be this professional hitter.
Ryan Doumit (3,700) – He has four hits in seven career at-bats against Rick Porcello, including two doubles.
Vernon Wells (3,700) – Has three hits in six career at-bats against Ryan Dempster
Jedd Gyorko (3,700) – If someone can help the Padres avoid the broom, it will be this guy.
