They’re Remaking ‘Road House’ To Star Ronda Rousey, So Let’s Recast The Other Lead Roles
The best movie ever made in which a stuffed polar bear falls and flattens a fat guy named Tinker is about to have a remake. And who will play Dalton, the bad-ass protagonist of the 1989 cult-status film Road House?
None other than Ronda Rousey. Apparently it's a done deal. Variety:
UFC fighter Ronda Rousey is starring in MGM’s reboot of the 1980s cult classic “Road House.” Rousey will step into the role Patrick Swayze made famous.
Sources say MGM is currently meeting with screenwriters, with production set to begin in 2016.
So switching genders for the remake shouldn't be much of a problem, except for this: how are they going to cast Denise, who has possibly one of the top ten lines in 1980s movie history?
Bar guy: Whaddaya say we get nipple to nipple?
Denise: [eying her own ample cleavage] I can do that without you!
I hope they don't switch the gender of Kelly Lynch, who played Swayze's love interest, Doc. Although wouldn't they have to? Other casting ideas:
Wade Garrett (Sam Elliott in the original) ... Woody Harrelson.
Brad Wesley (Ben Gazzara) ... Sam Elliot.
Doc (Kelly Lynch) ... Tobey Maguire.
Tinker ... Andy Richter.
So yeah, we're never going to get that Rousey-Cyborg fight. But this should be fun.
