Watch A High School Kicker Send A Game Into Overtime With A 67-Yard Field Goal
Austin Rehkow of Central Valley High in Spokane, Wash. did something that no one in the NFL has ever done, connecting on a 67-yard field goal to send his team's game into overtime and help them get a 62-55 win over Shadle Park. The NFL record is 63 yards, set by the Saints' Tom Dempsey in 1970, but oddly enough, Rehkow's kick is still a yard short of the high school record -- a 68-yarder by Dirk Borgognone (great name) of Reno, Nev. in 1985. Rehkow is already a star: he appeared on Good Morning America today, and this YouTube clip is definitely going to get him some more scholarship offers (he's currently a partial offer from nearby Eastern Washington, but we have a feeling he's probably going to a bigger program after this kick).
