Borja Valero Brings Us The Best Soccer Headbutt Since Zidane
Villareal made it through to the UEFA Champions League with their 3-0 win over Danish side Odense, but not without losing midfielder Borja Valero on a filthy headbutt that reminded viewers of the 2006 World Cup final.
The "shenanigans" came about late in the match after Villareal had already commanded victory when Valero responded with aggression to what appeared to be an accidental head-tap by Andreas Johansson. Valero didn't help his cause by attempting to shove the assistant referee.
The act drew Valero a straight red, the second roja of the match after Bashkim Kadrii was dismissed for Odense after earning his second yellow card.
