Derrick Rose Schmoozes With Jury Members After Not Liable Verdict In Civil Rape Trial
When rape culture meets celebrity culture, the result is what you see above. Derrick Rose and two friends were found not liable in his $21.5 million civil gang rape trial today, and Rose will head back to the gym to get ready for the NBA season with the New York Knicks.
But only minutes after the verdict, Rose posed with members of the jury who asked for photos. And in dismissing the case, the judge, Michael W. Fitzgerald, joked: "Best wishes in the future, except when the Knicks play the Lakers." (according to the New York Post).
Lady Justice just threw up in her mouth a little.
The judge said "Good luck D Rose, except when the Knicks play the Lakers" & smiled. This on top of D Rose taking pics with jurors...WHAT?!?!

The eight-person jury needed only three hours to find Rose not liable, and in true O.J. jury fashion, couldn't wait to mingle with the star NBA player afterward. That in itself was disgusting. And even though this was a civil trial, judge Ito needs to keep his mouth shut afterward.
Because there still was a plaintiff in the room who, after the verdict was read, had her hands against her face in a prayer position. Who's to say that wasn't sincere?
The case will be appealed, and a criminal case could move forward. But the latter is unlikely now.
