Did The Batavia Downs Weiner Dog Race Champion Come Up Short? A SportsGrid Investigative Report
The results of a popular "Weiner Dog Race" at Batavia Downs in Genesee County, New York have been challenged after video surfaced showing the dog track officials named champion actually came up a bit short.
Jake Arnold, a four-year-old dachshund, was declared winner for the third straight year -- but video suggests Jake (wearing red #7) actually finished second to a dog named Gordon. SportsGrid slowed the official track video down and it does appear Gordon gets his little hound nose across the line first:
A total of 63 weiner dogs took part in the festivities -- a photo gallery (WARNING: ADORABLE!) from The Batavian can be found here.
