Galatasaray Fans Throw Flares Onto Field During Champions League Match Against Arsenal
After going down 2-0, Galatasaray began to look frustrated, culminating in a rough tackle that put Alexis Sanchez on his ass in the 35th minute. The fans though -- they had an entirely different level of pent up soccer angst going on. Fires, big and small, were set in the stands and then thrown onto the pitch during play.
Wesley Sneijder successfully calmed the raucous section of the crowd, as if to politely say, "Guys, it actually impacts our chances of winning if you keep acting like fucking assholes."
The typical penalty for flare throwing is monetary, though clubs have been known to ban their fans from entering the stadium during home games (which hasn't always kept the flares out, by the way).
