FC Dallas Cheering Section Whips Projectile At Their Own Player After Scoring Go Ahead Goal (VIDEO)
There's a time and a place for everything. Even throwing shit at athletes.
Time: Flirty snowball fight with attractive Swedish female ski team.
Place: Snowy courtyard of Winter Olympic Village.
Otherwise, it's like throwing shit at a bus driver, or cop.
In the 88th minute of a scoreless league match between FC Dallas and the defending MLS champion LA Galaxy, Dallas defender George John caught a deflected header off a corner kick, putting the home side up 1-0 with a few ticks left to play. But before he could even decide whether to take his shirt off, suck his thumb, or turn into a fish and get caught by his teammates, a bottle-looking object was flung at his head, knocking him to the ground. What kind of bottle? The kind that leaves you with a gash requiring 5 staples. Luckily he's cool about everything.
5 staples to fix the gash and 3pts later, all is well. Love the support! Maybe next time buy me the beer instead of throwing it at me.

You could imagine how upsetting it would be to get pegged with a dangerous projectile by your own fans after you got them a win over the highest profile team in the sport. Way to turn the other cheek, George.
Now imagine you're recovering from a head injury and that happens. SPOILER ALERT: John is recovering from a concussion sustained last year after a ball nailed him in his grill at warp speed. Yep. Shame on you, FC Dallas fans.
The idea of throwing something onto a professional sports playing field, though enticing, is about as unacceptable as, well, throwing anything at anyone else at work. A flight attendant. A bartender. A doctor. It seems like they get away scott free, while athletes bear the brunt of our collective mischievousness and childish inclinations. Which sucks, because we need them healthy so we can yell offensive things at them.
Dallas ended up winning, though I can imagine the goal-side cheering section may have lost a few privileges.
