Hope Solo: “We’ll Be Bringing Home The Cup”
The former Washington Husky who created a media firestorm in 2007 when she criticized her being benched in favor of Briana Scurry is now riding a wave of support both in the United States and internationally after her role in helping the U.S. defeat Brazil in a thrilling penalty kick shootout Sunday.
Solo appeared on the Jim Rome Show Monday and spoke with guest host Dave Mahler. She explained that unlike most sporting moments when athletes move on from a previous game to focus on the next one, the memories of Sunday's win aren't going away anytime soon:
Incredibly, Solo claims she believed the U.S. team would win even in the moments before Abby Wambach headed in the equalizing goal with just seconds left in the injury time added to the tied-game extra time:
