Serbian Soccer Sideline Reporter Nearly Fired For Being Too Hot
Red Star Belgrade, Serbia's most well-known soccer team, is having a tough time -- it's about $70 million in arrears, has been banned from the Champions League until it pays its debts, and its players are grumbling that they haven't been paid, either.
And now the television show dedicated to the team is threatening to take away the only thing the players have to live for: sideline reporter and show host Katarina Sreckovic. The reason? Sreckovic is so attractive that players can't concentrate during interviews. And that's a real problem, because you know how cerebral and insightful pro athletes can be during post-game interviews.
This cannot stand! They're rioting in the streets of Belgrade! Or, no ... just a normal weekday there following a game. Sorry.
Anyway, it appears that the danger is over, for now.
"I admit it was a problem at the start, but I think they've got used to me now, Sreckovic said. "It was tough, though, because for a while it seemed as if they might not be able to work with me at all."
"I was also asked to go away a couple of times because I was a distraction on the pitch and players complained that they couldn't concentrate."
But she said she had fought and insisted that the players would eventually get used to her and they did.
"I am really happy, because I am also a huge fan of Red Star."
