South Carolina And The NCAA Would Like Their Ball Back, Please
You can hardly blame South Carolina outfielder Jackie Bradley, Jr. for being excited -- his Gamecocks had just swept the Florida Gators en route to winning back-to-back NCAA College World Series championships:
But many who watched that final out immediately thought Bradley would regret throwing the ball into the crowd. Sure enough, he eventually came looking for it -- as did the NCAA, which wanted the ball to put in their Hall of Fame.
Omaha resident Dominique Hawkins caught the ball, and even managed to get it signed by many of the South Carolina players. Omaha's KETV caught up with Hawkins about South Carolina and the NCAA attempting to recover the piece of history:
Given Hawkins' adamant refusal to hand the ball over, it's no surprise KETV is reporting it's being kept in a bank vault for safekeeping.
