Tennis Player’s Ringing Cell Phone Delays Match Point, Confuses Caroline Wozniacki
Well, this has to be a first.
During a first-round matchup between Caroline Wozniacki and Alizé Cornet at the Swedish Open, the tension-filled silence that always precedes match point was interrupted by a ringing cell phone. It was a scene straight out of an AT&T commercial...except the offending spectator was not a spectator at all, but Cornet herself.
Watch below as a confused Wozniacki waits to serve before Cornet eventually realizes that hers is the cell phone in question, and pauses to silence it in her tennis bag.
Down one set to love and trailing 5-3 in the second, Cornet managed to stave off match point and win the game, but ultimately lost the match on her serve, 6-4, 6-4.
