Twitter Turns Into One Big, Glorious Roast Of The Seahawks
The Seahawks didn't have the regular season that one would necessarily expect from a team coming off two consecutive Super Bowl appearances, but at the very least they looked like they had gained momentum in the second half of he regular season and could make a decent run in the postseason. As it turns out, they are very much out of their league; at least after one half of football against the Panthers in Carolina.
It's hard not to laugh a little.
Media and Seahawks fans alike were clambering to sell this matchup as an interesting and dynamic one, despite the fact that the Panthers were the consensus best team in the NFL this season and coming off of two weeks rest at home. Meanwhile the Seahawks played an extremely rough game one week ago in subzero temperatures in Minnesota that they won 10-9 because Blair Walsh missed a chip shot field goal as time expired. They weren't exactly impressive, and they were lucky to come out of the frozen tundra with a win; and all of their fingers.
So perhaps I'm getting a little bit of sick pleasure out of watching them get absolutely annihalated at Bank of America Stadium. But I'm not the only one. The internet never can't help but kick a dog while it's down, so to speak; and they went all in on the Seahawks, whose success in recent years and bandwagon fanbase has made them an easy target for the haters.
There may be more football left to play as the Seahawks scored a touchdown on the opening drive of the second half to make the score 31-7, but at least according to Twitter, Seattle is dead in the water.
