VINE: Josh Norman’s Pick-Six Celebration Was Worth The Penalty
The Buccaneers haven't had much to celebrate so far in the 2015 season, and it doesn't look like that is going to change in Week 4. The Panthers dominated the game on both sides of the ball, and their defense's superior performance was due in part to a 46-yard pick-six thrown by Bucs QB Jameis Winston to cornerback Josh Norman.
And what's the only thing that can make throwing a pick-six feel even worse? When it is celebrated in absolutely epic fashion in the end zone, like so:
Save a horse, ride a football. It's rare that a touchdown celebration is humorous and features perfect execution, but Norman made it happen. Sure, he was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct and his team was docked the standard 15 yards; but that had to have been worth it.
Plus lets be honest; the unsportsmanlike conduct rule shouldn't apply to defensive players on pick-sixes or fumble returns for a touchdown. It's the offense's job to keep the ball and score for their own team. If they're going to turn it over and get scored on, then a little nose-rubbing should be expected; hell, maybe even encouraged. Then perhaps we'd get more silly stuff like this, and lord knows the NFL could use a little bit more levity.
