Watch A Tennis Player At Wimbledon Get Frightened By Thunder, Adorably
When it comes to the four Grand Slams that comprise the professional tennis calendar, Wimbledon is the most daunting for a young player. The all white attire, royal spectators, the general stuffiness and, of course, the incessant rain, all add up to a generally intimidating atmosphere.
This year, the weather has been especially distracting, due to the regular downpours and sporadic outbursts of pounding thunder. As one analyst pointed out during the women's quarterfinal on Tuesday:
"I can't ever remember it raining this hard, with thunder, lightning ..."
Thus, it should come as no shock (pun completely intended) that when a particularly booming thunderclap erupted over Centre Court during her match against Marion Bartoli, 21-year-old wild-card entry Sabine Lisicki nearly jumped out of her skin.
