One-Legged Paralympian Josh Sundquist’s Six Best Halloween Costumes
Josh Sundquist, 31, lost his left leg to Ewing's sarcoma at age nine, and so six years later he did the natural thing: begin training to be an alpine skier. He got so good that in 2006 he made the United States Paralympic Ski Team and raced in the IX Paralympic Games in Turin, Italy.
Today, retired from ski racing, he makes his living as a motivational speaker, author and journalist. A good gauge of how he approaches life: these Halloween costumes below. He breaks out a new one each year at this time, and it's always one of the best things about Fall for me.
"I guess with these Halloween costumes you could even say that I celebrate what makes me different," Sundquist said on his blog. "Which may be either weird or refreshing, depending on your perspective."
This year, the costume is ...
2015: I Hop. Josh: "It’s a classic amputee joke. This year I decided to anthropomorphize it."
2014: Foosball Player.
2013: Flamingo. Simply inspired.
2012: A Christmas Story. The one-legged lamp from the classic movie.
2011: Angry Birds. "We don't talk about 2011."
2010: The Gingerbread Man from Shrek.
