Woman Wins MMA Title Bout Without Realizing She Was 12 Weeks Pregnant
When is the last time a baby was born who already had a 1-0 MMA record? Such will be the case for Kinberly Novaes, a Brazilian fighter who won the Noxii straweight title in May while being 12 weeks pregnant. Novaes had no idea she was pregnant at the time.

Kinberly Novaes fought and defeated Renata Baldan on May 17, 2015, to win the Noxii 115-pound title. Unbeknownst to her, however, she was three months pregnant at the time.
In fact, she didn't discover the baby growing in her belly until she was encountered trouble cutting weight for her bout against Jocelyn Jones Lybarger, which was set to go down on Aug. 21, 2015 under the RFA banner.
Novaes immediately visited her doctor, worried that something could have happened to her unborn child when she realized that she competed while pregnant, according to MMAFighting.com.
"We did a morphology ultrasound last week and the doctor said I'm 24 weeks pregnant, almost six months, and my baby is healthy and strong. I was worried because I trained hard, fought, cut weight. I suffered a lot to make weight for my last fight, couldn't dehydrate properly, and I was already training to fight again next week, but the doctor said everything is fine."
Jesus, that makes the video hard to watch, so I'm not posting it here. And I realize that some pregnancies go undetected for a time, but if you're fighting MMA, that has to be among your concerns, doesn't it? Just pee on a strip sometime before your fight. Not difficult.
Or shouldn't the promoter at least test for that? Washington Times:
Bruno Barros, the promoter for Brazilian promotion Noxii, told MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz that Novaes fighting while pregnant a few months ago was his fault.
“I didn’t ask for the exam. That’s the truth,” Barros told MMAFighting.com. “I didn’t even thought about the possibility of a woman fighting while pregnant, going through a camp and dehydrating and everything.”
The baby is fine physically, but will be born thinking that the Moon is a planet, Donald Trump should be President, and constantly saying "shake and bake."
