Remember when the Dallas Cowboys and Dez Bryant’s advisor David Wells agreed upon and imposed a set of guidelines for Bryant after he was arrested for a Class A misdemeanor charge for domestic violence in a July incident involving his mother? One of those guidelines was a curfew. While from a PR standpoint that was an interesting headline, Bryant abiding by the curfew and the Cowboys enforcing it was always a dubious proposition.
It’s now been widely reported that Friday night Bryant’s curfew was lifted so that the enigmatic wideout could celebrate his November 4th, 24th birthday (on November 2nd). So what the hell was the point of setting the curfew in the first place? Am I crazy or is this really not much different than letting Alcoholics Anonymous meeting attendees gather at a top shelf alcohol party in a controlled atmosphere? “Ok guys, you can drink whatever you want, just no driving.”
The cat was seeming let out of the bag that #88 was out partying when the DJ at the club Dez Bryant was at posted a picture of Bryant and his friends on his Twitter account. The picture has since been taken down… How much do you think the DJ got paid to do that?
Bryant reportedly had a security person with him, and was spotted with recently suspended and cut Mavericks guard Delonte West and former Maverick Josh Howard among others. Not exactly three dudes known for great decision making individually, and it’s quite an accomplishment actually that collectively their behavior was a non event and Bryant ended up showing up at the Cowboys walk-through on time Saturday morning.
No word on whether Bryant’s curfew will be lifted for election day…
