Report: Robinson Cano, Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson, And Ryan Braun Might Face 50-Game PED-Related Suspensions This Season

Consider this the bombshell before the bombshell, should this prophecy eventually come true. Joe Bisceglie from Dog And Pony Show tweeted Monday afternoon that four of baseball’s biggest bats, including three New York Yankees and two formerly implicated players, will each be slapped with 50-game first-offense PED suspensions. They are, of course, Robinson Cano, Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson, and Ryan Braun.

You’d be inclined to be skeptical, and for fair reason — Bisceglie doesn’t name his source. This kind of story is explosive, and deserves tender care before people start going on witch hunts and throwing names out there with no rationale. But consider this: Bisceglie correctly prognosticated that Melky Cabrera would be suspended last season for a failed PED test almost a month before his suspension came.

That tweet was from July 18; the suspension came on Aug. 15. Bisceglie was understandably sour about the haters (can’t get no respect with no sources, dude), but to his credit, he’s been right about this thing before, the Nostra Damus of steroids, if you will.

Now, we can’t do much with this information right now, but just remember you heard about it, and to not be surprised if and when these players are suspended. And if it’s true, it is going to be a big bruise on the game, one we really felt in our heart of hearts hadn’t gone away when the Bondses, Clemenses, and McGwires retired. The Steroid Era reincarnate? Maybe. Just maybe.

    The steroid cannot possibly reincarnate because it was never dead. To make that statement only perpetuates this era of ignorance. It’s been 15 years since the Sosa/Mcgwire spectacle and still no one can come to terms with the obvious, that much, if not the majority of competition at the highest levels of professional sports is influenced by PEDs.

    First offense needs to be 100 games minimum if not an entire season. Granderson is out 50 games with a broken forearm. Start taking a season’s worth of cash from these guys and you may have something.

    So foolish for people to deny the possibility that this is true because they’re “good guys”. How many more guys have to get popped before the general public will stop believing the character of pro athletes. Not saying they’re all bad, but you’re long past ignorant if you think Curtis Granderson is too nice to take PEDs. I love sports as much as the next guy, but these guys shouldn’t be held high as idols and role models.

    98% of professional and division 1 athletes are taking Ped’s. This is OBVIOUS to anyone who knows (or remembers) what athletes ought to look like…. Of course natural strength training can help put on 10 – 20 lbs on a pro athlete..However it is very difficult to keep it on throughout the season.

    Take a look at a MLB, NBA, NFL or NHL game from the mid 80′s or before. They all look like highschool kids all though not quite as big…

    Bud Selig, Roger Goodel David Stern and whoever runs hockey have allowed this drug mess to spiral to this unbelievable level of complete inundation. To the point where finding a ball player NOT on drugs is a needle in a haystack.
