Who’s Gonna Be The Next Lakers Coach, And How Would Steve Kerr Choose Between The Lakers And Knicks?

Mike D’Antoni is gone as Los Angeles Lakers head coach, after he “resigned” yesterday. (He “resigned” like I retired from baseball.) You might think this is the last we’ll hear from D’Antoni, but he’s younger than a D’Antoni that just got hired at Marshall. So relax, fool.

There is no clear-cut candidate for D’Antoni’s replacement. Here are lots of Tweets that spew rumors and clarify little.

I would hope so. What else is there to do?

I assume that means yes. But doesn’t everybody hate Byron Scott? Hasn’t he been fired three times?

OK.

The New York Post basically reported that Steve Kerr was going to be the next coach of the New York Knicks. How do you choose between two storied, currently-miserable franchises? Let’s play Pros and Cons.

Knicks

PROS

- Getting to work with Phil Jackson.
- Living in New York.
- Having a good first-round pick
- I’m stumped.

CONS

- Maybe not having Carmelo Anthony.
- Maybe having Carmelo Anthony.
- The roster.
- The demanding fans, coupled with the roster.
- James Dolan.
- I could go on for days.

Lakers

PROS

- Living in LA.
- Cap space!
- A high first-round pick.
- A semblance of a future.

CONS

- Old, crippled Kobe Bryant.
- The demanding fans, coupled with the roster.

Yeah, I’d probably pick the Lakers. Or stay in the booth. STAY IN THE BOOTH, STEVE, YOUR MYSTIQUE WILL MULTIPLY.

Other rumors: Lionel Hollins, Doc Rivers having “no thoughts,” as he should, and the not-so-dark-horse, rookie/champion UConn coach Kevin Ollie.

That’d be ballsy. I like it.
