Brett Favre Just Won A High School State Championship And Claims It Feels ‘Pretty Close’ To Winning A Super Bowl

No, that’s not Kenny Rodgers — that’s 44-year-old Brett Favre. And he just led Oak Grove High School to a Mississippi 6A High School Football State Championship, beating Tupelo, MS, 14-7. You can thank Favre for those two scores (because, you guessed it, he’s the offensive coordinator).

What’d you think? He was the social media director? HA!

Favre, who’s youngest daughter attends Oak Grove as a Freshman, retired to Hattiesburg, MS.

[Minneapolis Star Tribune]“I can’t say it’s like a Super Bowl, but it’s pretty close,” Favre said. “It really is. It’s a different type of feeling, but I couldn’t be more proud of these guys. It’s been a lot of fun.”

The game was tied going into halftime, until the Warriors (that’s Favre’s team) scored on a savvy fake field goal from the 4-yard line. Typical Favre, taking unnecessary risks that somehow manage to work out for him.

“That was all the special teams’ coach,” the former New York Jet said. “I don’t call trick plays.” Ya, you just call sideline reporters.

Jake, I think there’s a certain nastiness in your tone that sucks a lot of the humor out of your writing. It’s definitely something to work on. I mean bringing up Favre’s pictures twice in an article about him winning a high-school championship is a little overkill, even coming from myself who cares nothing about Favre. Humor is supposed to be about pointing the absurdity of the things we all love and enjoy in life. That’s positive humor. We are laughing with each other about things we love but seem ridiculous if you really boil them down. Your humor often comes across as mean-spirited because it lacks that sense of shared enjoyment. You seem to genuinely not like Favre, which makes the jokes less funny.

There are jokes in his articles? I’m always distracted by the baffling inaccuracies.

I’m baffled by the spelling and grammar errors, not to mention the writing style (the exclamation points make it sound like it was written by a junior-high age school girl). I literally thought “Jake” was a parody when I first read this.
