Hot Draft Day Girlfriends: A Retrospective

Tonight is the NBA Draft, a process that drags on for hours but really is only important for about a minute of elapsed time. Everyone cares about the top 10 picks, and whatever players their favorite team selects… and that’s it. But we have one other reason to tune into ESPN tomorrow night: the hot draft room girlfriend. Now check out these 10 girls that accompanied their boyfriends/husbands on draft day.

1.Brady Quinn

While Brady Quinn slipped further than expected in the 2007 NFL Draft, he at least got to sit next to his very attractive girlfriend while he waited. Going to the Browns probably didn't help, but again, at least Brady was in good company.

2.Gordon Hayward

While Gordon Hayward missed the last shot of his career at Butler, he didn't miss on draft night 2010 when he showed up with his girlfriend. We're sure she helped the former Butler guard forget all about his national championship loss.

3.Brandon Weeden

While Weeden wasn't at Radio City for the 2012 NFL Draft, ESPN showed the 28-year-old in his home when he was picked, celebrating with wife Melanie (top left, white shirt).

4.Jimmer Fredette

Jimmer and his current wife Whitney had a long, public relationship when Jimmer was starring at BYU. When Fredette went 10th overall to the Kings in 2011, Whitney was by his side to enjoy the moment.

5.Christian Ponder

While some were surprised when the Vikings selected Christian Ponder 12th overall in the 2011 draft, it was Ponder's girlfriend, Kacie, who stole the attention.

6.Jan Vesely

Jan Vesely was truly living the dream during the 2011 NBA Draft. After he was announced the sixth overall pick to the Wizards, Veseley stood up, and smooched his tall, blond, hot girlfriend on live television. Oh, to be 6-foot-11 and athletically gifted.

7.Ryan Tannehill

Ryan Tannehill's wife, Lauren, stole the show at the NFL Draft this year. In the 10 minutes following the Dolhpins selected the Texas A & M product, over 800 tweets were sent out...about his wife. We're glad the NFL tweeps were excited about the league getting a Tannehill, only it wasn't Ryan.

8.Matthew Stafford

When the former Georgia quarterback went number one in the 2009 draft, he did so next to his girlfriend Kelly Hall. Stafford has had a pretty successful NFL career alongside Calvin Johnson, and has done pretty well for himself off the field as well.

9.Matt Kalil

Matt Kalil continued the Vikings' rich history of attractive females in the draft room when he was selected fifth overall in 2012. Kalil was accompanied by his girlfriend and his mom (a former model) who both caught the attention of the Internet. The Dan Patrick Show even asked the offensive lineman about the attention his mom was getting, to which he replied, "I try to look at her a little bit differently." His girlfriend, Mary-Kate, was a Miss-California runner-up in 2011.

10.Greg McElroy

After a stellar career at Alabama, Greg McElroy had to wait nearly eight rounds to hear his name called in 2011. When the quarterback finally did get selected, he was at home, on the couch, next to his very attractive girlfriend* Meredith. Again, nothing like the comfort of your home (and hot girlfriend) to help immortalize the day you were drafted into the NFL. So he was pick 208? We're still guessing Greg had a decent draft party.

Yeah, that I know. When I first read it, I did a double take and had to stop and think; Oklahoma just didn’t sound right. All fixed though.

Still, his real girlfriend at the time of the draft was pretty good looking. Maybe y’all should find a picture of her?
