Fantasy Football News, Notes And Analysis: A Dez Bryant Shout-Out
Mike Cardano (@MikeCardano) discusses the NFL on-field performances from Week 8, sharing his takes and offering his Fantasy insights with a forward looking view…
* To have your question answered by Mike for the world to see, send him an email or tweet and you might get lucky…
Lions WR Ryan Broyles has a torn right Achilles’ tendon and will undergo surgery on Tuesday. He will be placed on IR an dis done for the year…
Kris Durham is now locked in as the Lions’ No. 2 receiver, with Kevin Ogletree and Jeremy Ross behind him. * NOTE: Nate Burleson (broken arm) remains on track to return in Week 10.
With Mike Williams on IR and done for the season with a hamstring tear, WR Tiquan Underwood will be the Bucs’ new No. 2 receiver opposite Vincent Jackson.
Underwood (6’1/183) has just four receptions for 53 yards on the season, rotating in Tampa’s No. 3 receiver role with Chris Owusu. Without Williams, Jackson will unquestionably be double-teamed on almost every play. As an every-down player, Underwood will now experience target opportunities as a result of the coverages and warrants a roster consideration…
Jason Campbell is now the Browns’ QB.
Campbell played surprisingly well on Sunday. Even if he performed subpar against the Chiefs in Week 8, the Browns weren’t going to go back to Brandon Weeden. But Campbell performed well above average, sparking the Browns by going 22-of-37 for 293 yards with two touchdowns in a narrow loss. He’ll be a QB2 Sunday against the Ravens…
Jimmy Graham (foot) played on just 18 snaps in Sunday’s win over the Bills.
Despite the extremely limited playing time, Graham squeezed out three catches for 37 yards and two touchdowns. It’s nearly impossible to count on that kind of production going forward unless his snap count rises. Graham’s foot can’t get worse, but it might not get better unless the fascia completely tears. The Saints have no idea when that might be. Graham came into Week 8 averaging 52.5 snaps per game. I would be shocked if he puts up elite TE numbers the rest of the way. If you are concerned about his production going forward, I would suggest you look getting Redskins TE Jordan Reed who is still widely available in many leagues (Owned – NFL.com 42.2%, ESPN.com 62%).
Eagles coach Chip Kelly said he doesn’t think Michael Vick (hamstring) will be ready for Week 9.
Vick aggravated his hamstring pull on the third series of Sunday’s loss to the Giants. He missed two weeks with the initial injury and figures to miss at least that much this time around. If Nick Foles (concussion) can’t get cleared, the Eagles will be forced to turn to rookie Matt Barkley again against the Raiders…. (How does Vice Young not have a job again? He does have a winning NFL record…) [Please don't tell me Tim Tebow does too....]
Washington team doctor James Andrews stated that Robert Griffin III’s (knee) removal from Sunday’s loss was precautionary, and more “because of the score.” Nothing to see here, move along…
